A New Dawn, A New Day

Guess what, everyone! We've made it through week 1 of 2017!

2016 was, well, a bit of a yeara year of heartbreak and pain for so many. While there were some good moments, unfortunately the dark parts seem to stand out more than anything else when thinking back on it. But a new year means a fresh start. It's a time to reflect and take second chances.

2016 had some amazing highs and some indescribable lows for me. I made some exciting changes in my life and had so many great opportunities. However there is always some pain, too, but that's okay.

It's okay to hurt; it's what we do with our hurt that matters.

I hope that in 2017 we all take the time to adjust, to heal. I hope that we encourage each other every day. We all have hard days, hard weeks, hard months. We need to be there for each other through the tough stuff, maybe now more than ever.

This year, I want to work toward healing my wounds and loving myself more. It's a daily challenge, one that so many of us go through, but if we stick together, we might just make it.

It's important, especially in the new year, in a time of reflection, to have grace on yourself. Be aware of your downfalls, but don't let them bring you down more. Let your past experiences be your fuelbe determined to make change, to be stronger. Accept your failures and wrong doings, and use them to empower and to love.

Everyone suffers, has insecurities, feels pain. Some people more than others. But, this year, don't let that pain drown you, instead use it to create. Translate that pain into your craft. Whether you're a mathematician, a painter, a scientist, a singer or anything in between, let your pain be the force driving you to do better than the year before.

Learn from the hurt. If you're still feeling low and defeated from the aftermath of a long, heavy year, take your heart and hold it close. It may sound twisted, but this pain you're feeling right now could be the drive you need to make this year the best it can be.

I hope that 2017 is the year of love, life, and laughter. We've all felt the weight of the terror, hate, and loss that 2016 brought, but 2017 is our chance to start anew and soothe our wounds.

We have to hold on. We're in this together.

Here's to a new year! Happy 2017!

x

Casey
