Tonight was the premiere of CBS's newest series, Supergirl. I must say that when I saw the announcement for this show many months ago, I teared up a bit. It has been 36 years since a female superhero took the lead on television. That was in 1979, when the beloved show, Wonder Woman ended. 36 years is much too long, but I am simply happy that the time has come for a new female
hero.

Melissa Benoist is perfect as Kara Danvers. She's sweet and silly, but strong and courageous, and everything that a hero should be. She made me laugh multiple times throughout the episode, as well as made me cry from how incredible she is as Kara. I have waited my entire life to see someone like Supergirl be on television... I may have been a little emotional. In fact... I might be tearing up a bit, right now.

I hope that Supergirl prospers, and stays on our TVs for many, many seasons. I know I will be watching.
